Love.

It’s one of the marks of the Christian.

…Or at least it’s supposed to be.

For it’s one thing — and easy — to say we *love* one another with our words. But it’s quite another — and hard — to show it with our actions.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Deacon David Teves shows us what true love looks like by directing us to the perfect example…. And we find it in the book of 1 John.

For it is in this example, that Jesus clearly displays how love is put into action when He willingly, and lovingly, went to the cross and sacrificed Himself for us.

  2. How can we know love? Why is this foundational to how we are to love others? (3:16)
  3. What are the “worldly goods” God has blessed you with that you can share with others? Who around you may be in need of them? (3:17)
  4. Why does John refer to us as children? How does this relate with his use of the word brother? How does this affect the way we view the church? (3:16-18)
  5. What are practical ways in which we can better observe the needs of one another? What steps will you take to putting this in action?
  6. How can we suffer with, or be sympathetic to, one another? (Heb 4:15)
  7. What are the dangers of separating knowledge and love? How are knowledge and love related?
  8. What are your spiritual gifts? Are you using them to love others? Are you hiding behind them in any way?
  9. How does our love act as a witness to unbelievers?
  10. What pattern is Jesus showing to Peter in John 21:15-17? Is there anything you need to change in your life to mimic this pattern?
