Scandia Stories

If the walls of our church could talk, they’d tell stories of those that have faithfully worshiped in this house, grown up in this house, married in this house, and have even gone home in this house.

As we look forward to our 100th birthday as a congregation in 2029, there is no doubt that the “church with the steeple” in Scandia Valley has had God’s hand of sovereignty upon it… through thick and thin.

Below is our growing collection of stories and memories recounted from those that sit in our pews… stories that not only preserve our rich history, but stories that ultimately point to the Author of all stories.

Bill

Gordon

Gordon Kippola has never formally attended our church, but he might not be here without it!

For it was during a youth event in the 1950’s that his one-day-mother, Clara, would visit Scandia Bible Church and find herself gazing up at its roof — not because of our iconic steeple, mind you, but because of a dream boat, young man making a repair on the ridge. So with determination in her step, she climbed the ladder, took a seat beside him, and introduced herself. And so began an SBC rooftop relationship that would see Wally and Clara marry… and little Gordon follow.
