Words we often associate with Easter.

But what if the story doesn’t start there?
What if resurrection begins in the dark—
with rebellion, a storm,
and a prophet sinking into the sea?

“Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

— a statement by Jesus, that a first didn’t make any sense… until the empty tomb.

His resurrection is the proof.
The proof that He is who He claimed to be.
The proof that His authority stands forever.

Happy Resurrection Sunday and welcome to our Scandia Bible Church Sunrise Service 2025… for what signifies an Easter morning with a touch of extra blessing.

For though our brother, Elder Keith Barker, has gone home to the Lord, he would smile with approval knowing our church gathers once again to continue his legacy of meeting and worshiping together our risen Lord on this most joyous of occasions… at his earthly waterfront home, which we know as the Barker House.

Description:

On this Good Friday evening in 2025, join our little country church as we gather in solemn reflection to behold the suffering of Christ through the prophetic Servant Songs of Isaiah and the Gospel accounts of His Passion.

Through Scripture, song, and short reflections, we follow the path of the Man of Sorrows — pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities.

And though this time on Friday is sorrowful, we rejoice knowing that it will be replaced with the joy that Sunday brings.

What if everything you’ve ever done, everything you’ve ever thought, or everything you’ve ever intended — every hidden sin — was written down and made visible?

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Zechariah in which we’re given a vivid and unsettling vision of this very thing: a flying scroll exposing sin and a woman in a basket — confined, contained, and carried away.

It’s a picture of God’s holy standard and His active judgment. And yet, it also serves as a backdrop making the gospel shine all the brighter.

For on this Palm Sunday, we should see that Christ didn’t just come to be praised — He came to purify.

And He came to carry the curse so we wouldn’t have to.

…More than you might think.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Zechariah in which we see the prophet pressing for understanding about his vision of the two olive trees.

We’ll see that their meaning is rich in symbolism and spiritual truth.

But ultimately, what we’ll learn is that these two trees point us straight to Jesus Christ — our High Priest and King, and to the Spirit who empowers His people now.

For from Him, the oil of the Spirit flows into the lives of His people, giving power, perseverance, and light in a dark world.
