SBC Host: When you are suffering in the midst of life’s battles, where do you find your hope?
Avg Guy:Jesus.
SBC Host: Exactly. But what about when He was suffering? Have you ever stopped to wonder what it was that Jesus considered?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and shows us that we ought give thought to this, as Jesus is not only the premier example of godly living… but also of godly suffering.
Description: If our physical bodies matched the maturity of our spiritual states, would church look more like a senior center or a day care?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and make the argument that while we can all appreciate those who are mature beyond their years, there is nothing more pathetic than one who grows older… but never grows up.
Description: Imagine that The Plague has come to your city. People are sick and needing help… and yet, the only response from civil authorities is to tell everyone to run!
What would YOU do?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues his virtual preaching to our church body as we “stay home and stay healthy” during the Coronavirus Pandemic and asks us to ponder the described scenario: What WOULD you do?
Would you run? Would you stay to help?
Because, you see, how you answer these questions truly depends on WHAT, or WHO, you believe keeps you safe.
Description: The holiness of God has been described as the sun.
Like the sun, God gives beauty, life, and light… but venture too close and you will be consumed.
Today on this Palm Sunday Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao takes us to two separate passages: one from the Old Testament and one from the New — both demonstrating God’s holiness, seen as He enters the royal city of Jerusalem.
Description: Jesus had just raised Lazarus from the dead, and the crowds were following Him as He descended into the royal city of Jerusalem – the King had arrived!
Today on this Palm Sunday, Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao takes us to the book of Luke to show us that as Jesus entered the city, the crowds cheered and lined the road with their coats and branches as they waved palms in the air in celebration of His arrival.
…But soon the cheering would stop. Soon the “hosannas” would be replaced with “Crucify him!” – and for this, while the crowds shouted, Jesus wept.
Description: The doctrine of creation is not only under attack outside the church but from within as well. Christians have attempted to fit “millions of years” into the Genesis account by doing hermeneutical gymnastics to Genesis Chapter 1. The end result of these theories has been the undermining of not only the faith of countless Christians but the undermining of the Gospel itself!
Description: In our passage today, we see a glimpse into the heavenly throne room. Satan obeys the summons to appear, and he comes as the accuser of God’s people. God tells Satan to state for the record where he has been and Satan states that he has been going “to and fro on the earth.” And then God asks Satan a question that challenges Satan: “Have you considered my servant Job?”
Satan accepts this challenge from God by saying that if God allows him to take away Job’s blessings that Job would curse God to His face. Job would then be proved a fake and God would be guilty of nothing more than cosmic bribery.
The gauntlet has been thrown down…and it is God’s idea.
Description: Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, and there is perhaps no greater day to focus on Christ’s kingly office. God gave Abraham a royal grant and prophecy that He would make a people for Himself and establish a Kingdom and righteous King for His people. This covenantal promise was fulfilled in the life of David and found its ultimate fulfillment in the person and work of Christ.
Description: All Christians are under the authority of someone else. Husbands are accountable to the Lord and to the elders in the church. Children are under the authority of parents and slaves under the authority of masters. In our passage this morning Paul speaks to husbands and commands them to love their wives as Christ loved the church.
