We all know the commandment. But in Colossians 3, Paul throws us a curveball:
When it comes to your old self — YOU MUST KILL.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Josh Peglow continues our study in the book of Colossians, where we as believers are called to kill — “put to death” —the very parts of us that have already died with Christ.
It’s strong language — unsettling, even.
But it’s the language of transformation.
Because in order to walk in the new humanity Christ has given us,
the remnants of the old must not be… excused tolerated or ignored.
They must be killed — so our new life can flourish.
(**Note: Unfortunately this recording had a few audio “drop-outs.” They were technical in nature and not something we intentionally edited or withheld).
When our sin feels too heavy to face, we all have places we run.
We cover. We excuse. We delay. We bury what we hope will simply disappear in the dark.
But concealed sin is not erased sin. It doesn’t fade — it festers. It hardens our hearts, isolates our souls, and sooner or later… it breaks us.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues our Wisdom and Worship study by taking us to Proverbs 28:13 —
where Solomon tells us that God’s mercy is found not in hiding, but in honesty…
not in perfection, but in repentance.
This verse opens a doorway to gospel hope:
for the God who sees our sin is the same God who invites us into mercy
— because Christ has already borne the full weight of our transgression, and has opened wide the arms of forgiveness.
The way out of hiding is not through trying harder.
It’s through Him.
Because the real question is not whether you’ll try to cover your sin…
but whether you’ll come into the light where mercy lives.
Life is not always smooth. In fact, suffering is almost guaranteed.
…So when you do suffer, is your reflex to dwell on your circumstances… or on Christ — the One who bears you up?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Josh Peglow, pauses on our study in Colossians and takes us to the book of Lamentations, where see Jeremiah move from the depths of despair to the heights of hope.
Because here’s the truth:
Even when everything in your world falls apart, the steadfast love of Christ never does… and never will.
Have you ever felt like your life is too broken to fix??
…like no matter what you do, you just can’t make things right?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Zechariah to share a passage that is filled with hope, restoration, and God’s unstoppable promises. In this passage we see how God’s mercy forgives, Spirit dwells, power rebuilds, and protection ensures. Because here’s the good news:
