What if everything you’ve ever done, everything you’ve ever thought, or everything you’ve ever intended — every hidden sin — was written down and made visible?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Zechariah in which we’re given a vivid and unsettling vision of this very thing: a flying scroll exposing sin and a woman in a basket — confined, contained, and carried away.
It’s a picture of God’s holy standard and His active judgment. And yet, it also serves as a backdrop making the gospel shine all the brighter.
For on this Palm Sunday, we should see that Christ didn’t just come to be praised — He came to purify.
And He came to carry the curse so we wouldn’t have to.
Today, Christmas Eve morning, on the Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao delves into the story that changed the course of humanity: God’s perfect creation and the entrance of sin into all that He had made.
This story is not just about the first sin, though, it’s a mirror reflecting our own struggles, hopes, and the profound need for redemption.
Because when all that Adam and Eve ought to have expected was God’s wrath, in the midst of Almighty’s curse was (and is) a promise of a Savior to come.
So even as sin entered the world, hope also entered with the promise of Jesus the Savior who would crush the head of the serpent once and for all.
Description: God blesses in Revelation what he cursed in Genesis.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Pocast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation in which we see Jesus giving us one of the most profound benedictions found anywhere in Scripture.
…But such is the power of the cross that the very things that we were cursed with, God is able to bring such incredible goodness and blessing from.
Description: Judges 10 begins with the accounts of two minor judges, Tola and Jair who bring about over 40 years of peace. But the author of Judges tells us that this time of peace resulted in an incredible period of apostasy and idolatry.
Description: Gideon’s legacy is a sad one. It involves idolatry, civil unrest, fratricide, deceit, retribution, and a large mill stone. God will not allow evil to go unpunished and Gideon’s son Abimelech meets his demise ultimately from the hand of God who punishes him for the wrong he has done to the house of his father.
Description: Psalm 1 is the “preface” psalm to the entire book of Psalms. We see here the blessings of God pronounced upon His people and the curses of God upon the wicked. It draws its theme from the blessings and curses of the covenant of Sinai outlined in Deuteronomy 28-31 and we see its echo in the New Testament in what is commonly called the Beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount.
Description: The Apostle concludes his teaching on submission with these two verses [3:8-9]. Whether it’s being in submission to every human authority, servants to a master, or even husbands and wives submitting to one another, we follow the example left for us by Jesus — we follow in His steps. Why? To inherit a blessing.
