Description: God created man in His image. He created him with an intent and purpose. But, was God’s intent thwarted by sin?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and explains that some do say God’s initial intent was thwarted by sin, and yet God doesn’t throw man on the scrap pile of bad ideas.
Rather, He sets about redeeming man and restoring mankind to His original intent… showing us that His plans are never thwarted.
Description: When most people consider the Covenant that God made with Noah, they have the tendency to think of rainbows …and not much else. But in this incredible section of Scripture we see promises that extend to every man, woman, and animal, and even the earth itself. And in those promises we see where God’s judgment and mercy meet foreshadowing the final redemptive work of Christ.
Description: Genesis Chapter 9 put bacon on the menu. Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues our study in the book of Genesis in which we see that with the flood behind us, the old world is gone – it is destroyed. But through God’s grace a new one is provided…with Noah, in a sense, acting as another “Adam” – and all generations of the earth coming through him. And so one of the obvious questions becomes (besides allowing for bacon) in what ways has God’s relationship with man changed since the flood, and in what ways is it still the same? For that you’re going to have to listen, but one thing is for sure: With Chapter 9, we gain a fuller picture of the character of God, as we begin to catch a glimpse of the depth of His love towards man with the great and incredible unfolding of His Covenant of Grace.
Description: Everyone knows the story of Noah’s Ark! In fact, it may be the most well-known Bible story outside of Christian circles. Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, we explore Noah and the Ark, as Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the Book of Genesis. And while most are quite familiar with the story of Noah, many do not realize just how important he is in redemptive history… and how his life and calling provide us with a beautiful picture of the final Savior of the world, Jesus Christ.
Description: In the book of Genesis, who are the “sons of God” and who are the Niphilim?
… Questions that many have asked, and it’s why this passage may be the most controversial passage in the entire book of Genesis. And while many, over the years, have offered answers as to who they think the sons of God and Niphilim are… what we’ll find is that the best answers are the ones that best fit the context of the book of Genesis.
Description: A long list of dead men who lived long ago…what’s the point???
Chapter 5 is one of those chapters we usually skip, after all, just about the whole thing is a genealogy. The Apostle Paul tells us though that:
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”
…And that means that even Genesis 5 is given by God for our benefit. For those who doubt, all we can say is “Come and see.”
Description: Chapters 4-6 of Genesis show us the fullness of sin as it takes dominion in the hearts of men. In the opening verses of Chapter 4, that we covered last week, we saw the complete spectrum of human experience from righteous worship to heinous murder. This week, as we study the second half of Genesis 4, we see the formation of culture and the sinfulness that permeates throughout.
Description: Chapters 4-6 of Genesis show us the fullness of sin as it takes dominion in the hearts of men. In the opening verses of Chapter 4, we see the complete spectrum of human experience from righteous worship to heinous murder.
Description: The last five verses of Genesis Chapter 3 give us a glimpse into the work that Christ would accomplish and a picture of substitutionary atonement. We are left with a picture of a God who is a Savior and who will bring about good in the midst of man’s sin and rescue Adam’s fallen race from their sin and misery.
Description: God placed Adam and Eve in a holy temple we call the Garden of Eden. There they would enjoy unrestricted access and fellowship with God as God covenanted with them and gave them the world. And in all of God’s creation, there was only one thing He forbid and that was the eating of a single fruit. How could Adam and Eve throw it all away? How angry God must have been by there disobedience, and yet even as God pronounced a curse upon the wayward couple, He announced His plan to rescue them.
Description: Genesis Chapter 3 is one of the most pivotal and important chapters in all of scripture. It records man’s darkest hour as Adam and Eve commit the first sin against God and plunge the entire human race into sin and rebellion against the Creator God who created the world that He once could pronounce as “very good”, but now no longer.
Description: God placed Adam in a garden with all the benefits therein but commanded him not to eat from one particular tree. This was a covenant of works. Adam could continue in the paradise garden as long as he was obedient to God’s one command. Adam failed this test of obedience, and in Adam we all failed as well.
But God would send a Second Adam – a better Adam – Jesus Christ: One who would obey all the law perfectly, as well as pay the punishment for the sins of Adam’s fallen race, thereby purchasing salvation for His people.
Description: This sermon provides five answers found in Scripture for the question, “Why a virgin birth?” This doctrine is a basic dogma of the Christian faith.
Description: The contrast of darkness with light is easily described but in our life it can make days that are hard to live through. Difficult and challenging situations develop in and around each of us. Today we shall look at how some Bible characters dealt with darkness.
Description: We have not a complete understanding of the sinfullness of sin. This lack of knowledge keeps people from coming to Christ because they have no real awareness that they need a Savior.
