SBC logo 204x204Description: When God calls… do you answer?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Genesis, in which we come across one of the most pivotal moments in redemptive history: God’s call of Abram – the father of all those who believe… the line in which God chose to make a great nation and ultimately deliver His Son, Jesus Christ. Pivotal indeed. But it’s also pivotal because we learn a lot in this moment in history. We learn that there is nothing “super-human” about Abram – he’s more like us than we think… And we learn that God is more amazing than we ever dared imagine.

SBC logo 204x204Description: Is God really in control??? Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Genesis and shows us that even through the Bible’s genealogies we can see God at work, sovereignly orchestrating the affairs of man to bring about His purposes. For He is sovereign over EVERYTHING – sovereign over the BIG things in life, and even sovereign over those things, which to you and I, may seem too small to matter.

SBC logo 204x204Description: …And pride overtook their hearts, as they set out to build a tower so high that it reached Heaven… a tower so high that everyone around the world would know about it and want to be part of it.

They would be great. They would be famous. And God had no place in their equation.

So God came down and confused their language. And the building stopped.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Genesis in which we see that even after the flood of Noah, man still rebelled against God. God had commanded man to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth; instead – to keep from being scattered – the people gathered together and built a city and a tower. They weren’t interested in honoring God’s name, they wanted a name for themselves. And while the Tower of Babel may be gone, man is still sinfully trying to make a name for himself and, just like during the time of Babel, this too will be judged.

Series: Genesis

Key Text: Genesis 10

SBC logo 204x204Description: Genesis Chapter 10 is often skipped over. Most of us struggle through these long and ancient genealogies. Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our Study in the book of Genesis in which he takes us through the descendants of Noah in Chapter 10… and shows us that while genealogies are often tedious to move through, God always has a purpose for what He reveals in His Word. Oftentimes to see His purpose, though, we need to view a passage through the eyes of redemptive history. And when we do this with Genesis 10, we see more than a genealogy: what we see is a picture of God’s judgment, grace, and Gospel.

SBC logo 204x204Description: For 950 years, Noah walked with God. But in the last captured moment of his life, we read that he was drunk and naked and ridiculed by his own son… leaving many of us wondering: “What happened??? He was such a righteous man.”

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, we see that the Bible is careful to record sad events such as this in the lives of great men, to both warn us – lest we also fall – and for us to remember that God alone – not Noah – is the hero in this story (and in every story), and it is to Christ that we are to look.
