Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 08/07/2022

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Ecclesiastes

Key Text: Ecclesiastes 2:1-11

Description:

What if you could make your most outlandish dreams come true?  …a waterfront mansion, a garage full of exotic cars, unlimited travel to any destination where you could stay at the finest hotels.

What if your life could be another episode of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous?

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Ecclesiastes and shows that Solomon examined all that money could buy. He pursued everything from the grandiose to the gutter, and he found it all lacking. He found it all vanity.

Perhaps you think you could have done better and avoided the pitfalls of Solomon’s failed experiment, but Solomon is not the only man to try this pursuit — and it wasn’t lack of smarts or lack of effort that left him empty.

… But rather —[Robin Leach: “Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams!”]— it was seeking satisfaction from things that cannot satisfy.

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 10/02/2016

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Genesis

Key Text: Genesis 9:18-29

SBC logo 204x204Description: For 950 years, Noah walked with God. But in the last captured moment of his life, we read that he was drunk and naked and ridiculed by his own son… leaving many of us wondering: “What happened??? He was such a righteous man.”

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, we see that the Bible is careful to record sad events such as this in the lives of great men, to both warn us – lest we also fall – and for us to remember that God alone – not Noah – is the hero in this story (and in every story), and it is to Christ that we are to look.

February 26, 2012

Sermon Notes

Date: 02/26/2012

Preacher: Monty Simao, elder

Series: Ephesians

Key Text: Ephesians 5:18

Description: In today’s sermon, we come to a controversial section of Scripture for two reasons.  The first is that the mention of “alcohol” opens a can of worms for many Christians and the second is that there is disagreement on what it means to be filled by the Holy Spirit and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  This sermon attempts to clear up any confusion and misconceptions regarding both of these areas and clearly outline what Paul means by this verse and why he makes such a comparison.
