Description: The future of the non-believer unfolds in John’s vision.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation in which three angels reveal to John the fate of the non-believer:
The first angel presents the Gospel in a call to repent;
The second, shows the Gospel’s rejection;
And the third, the outcome of judgment that comes to all who renounce the Gospel by refusing to repent and turn to Christ.
Description: And then John looks up and sees an image that makes Colossus of Rhodes look small and the gods of the Roman pantheon look… well, weak.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues our study in the book of Revelation in which witness right along with John…
And yet, as breathtaking as this image is… this amazing being is just simply one of God’s servants do His bidding.
But through this vision, we capture a glimpse of God’s amazing sovereignty over a seemingly chaotic world which will one day come to an end — when the mysteries of the Lord Almighty will be revealed in the renewed world that awaits.
Description: Sometimes Judgment doesn’t come as we would expect.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and asks would we still consider it “Judgement” if God brought forth an event so dramatic that it rivaled Sodom and Gomorrah, but instead of fire and brimstone, there was deception and idolatry?
The skies over the Euphrates swarm with airborne military weaponry: helicopters, jets, and drones crowd the air. And like metal locusts equipped with rapid fire guns in their mouths and bombs in their tails, they have orders to incessantly attack and destroy.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation in which we turn our attention to chapter 9 — a chapter that has has certainly captured the imagination of Bible interpreters from around the world — with interpretations as varied as an invasion of Apache helicopters to an army of genetically modified locusts who prey on flesh instead of vegetation.
But, are these interpretations in line with what John is trying to communicate? … or have we moved away from the purpose of the book?
And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared…to sound them. The first [angel] sounded, and there came hail and fire…. The second…and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea…. The third…a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch…. [And with] the fourth…the sun…the moon and…the stars were struck, so that a third of them…darkened….
Rev 8:6-12
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation in which we see the first four Trumpet Judgements unfold.
And what we’ll find is that like the first four Seal Judgments, the first four Trumpet Judgments come as a set — a set that, astute readers will recognize, comes out of Israel’s great period of redemptive history…the Exodus.
Description: The anticipation mounts as we reach the seventh, and final, seal to be opened: seven angels, standing before God, given trumpets.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation in which we read about the opening of the seventh seal, but – unlike the others – instead of an event immediately following, what we experience… is silence.
Description:Last week on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, we saw the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse who were sent out at the bidding of Christ as He opened the first four of the seven seals.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, we come to seal number five and six as Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation.
With the opening of the fifth seal we witness the martyrs that have come out of this present evil age, crying for God to judge the evil doers and avenge them.
The sixth seal is God’s response… for with the opening of this seal, we get a glimpse of the final day of wrath, of de-creation, and the absolute terror the enemies of God will experience.
Description: Catastrophic judgment. That’s how we often view the account of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible… and in many ways it is. Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Genesis to show us that when we view Sodom and Gomorrah as “catastrophic judgement,” we skip over – in the midst of this judgment – God’s compassion and mercy that come to all who trust in Him. Because you see, from Genesis to Revelation, judgement and mercy are always coupled together… and the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is no different.
Description: …And pride overtook their hearts, as they set out to build a tower so high that it reached Heaven… a tower so high that everyone around the world would know about it and want to be part of it.
They would be great. They would be famous. And God had no place in their equation.
So God came down and confused their language. And the building stopped.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Genesis in which we see that even after the flood of Noah, man still rebelled against God. God had commanded man to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth; instead – to keep from being scattered – the people gathered together and built a city and a tower. They weren’t interested in honoring God’s name, they wanted a name for themselves. And while the Tower of Babel may be gone, man is still sinfully trying to make a name for himself and, just like during the time of Babel, this too will be judged.
Description: Genesis Chapter 10 is often skipped over. Most of us struggle through these long and ancient genealogies. Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our Study in the book of Genesis in which he takes us through the descendants of Noah in Chapter 10… and shows us that while genealogies are often tedious to move through, God always has a purpose for what He reveals in His Word. Oftentimes to see His purpose, though, we need to view a passage through the eyes of redemptive history. And when we do this with Genesis 10, we see more than a genealogy: what we see is a picture of God’s judgment, grace, and Gospel.
Description: When most people consider the Covenant that God made with Noah, they have the tendency to think of rainbows …and not much else. But in this incredible section of Scripture we see promises that extend to every man, woman, and animal, and even the earth itself. And in those promises we see where God’s judgment and mercy meet foreshadowing the final redemptive work of Christ.
Description: Jude writes of the certainty of judgment and the fact that the very Lord whom the false teachers denied was coming in judgment against all apostates.
Description: Jude launches into an attack on the false teachers citing three examples of notorious Old Testament sinners followed by six descriptive examples of what these false teachers are like.
Description: Jude wants to draw a strong connection between the false teachers who have infiltrated the church in his day, to those who are known to have incurred the judgment and wrath of God. These lessons are just as applicable to the modern church as they were to those who worshiped in the first century.
