Description: Join us as we welcome to the pulpit, visiting evangelistic missionary and brother in Christ, from the country of Moldova, Pastor Vasiliy Kaletnik. Hear first hand how God is using him and his ministry to proclaim the Gospel in the landlocked country of Moldova — the poorest of countries in Eastern Europe.
Description: The absolute holiness of God is contrasted in today’s message with the depravity of man. We see that God has no patience with sin or sinners. His judgement is always consistent with a holy God whose purity demands justice.
Description: The problem of division and disunity in the body of Christ is nothing new. It is a problem which Paul addresses in his letter to the church in Ephesus and which we will examine this morning. Paul clearly lays out the theological basis for the unity of the church by describing the work of the triune God in the lives of His people. Our last message (Ep. 4:4) describes this unity relating to the Holy Spirit. Today we will focus on unity as it relates to the Lord Jesus and God the Father.
Description: Hard-working elders may not have a showcase full of trophies and awards to show for a lifetime of toil in the vineyard of God, but one day the Chief Shepherd will return and fully reward His faithful under-shepherds.
Description: The contrast of darkness with light is easily described but in our life it can make days that are hard to live through. Difficult and challenging situations develop in and around each of us. Today we shall look at how some Bible characters dealt with darkness.
Description: The problem of division and disunity in the body of Christ is nothing new. It is a problem which Paul addresses in his letter to the church in Ephesus and which we will examine in this message. Paul clearly lays out the theological basis for the unity of the church by describing the work of the triune God in the lives of His people. Difficulty arises because those whom God has called to be His are made up of people from so many backgrounds that division seems likely. For this reason, Paul instructs his readers to better understand the unity they have in Christ and how that unity is to be lived out in our daily experience.
Description: Peter gives to those who believe a command to entrust their souls to their faithful Creator as they continue in doing good works even in the face of persecution.
Description: There are very clear examples in Scripture that show God’s wonderful sovereign hand leading, teaching, and preparing His children for the task He is going to bring before them. In today’s message we will look at several of these examples and then reference our own lives and perhaps discern what He is preparing us to do.
Description: As we continue our study in the book of Ephesians, we reach a turning point in which Paul is a calling us to duty in light of the doctrine that he has set forth in the previous three chapters: From his imprisoned cell, he implores us to get up and walk in a manner worthy of the calling in which God has called us.
Description: We make the connection between the Old Testament prophecy of Micah with the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem as recorded in the gospel of Matthew.
Description: Absolute belief in the Deity of Jeus Christ is essential for salvation. The Bible give numberous proofs that Jesus is God. Today we shall touch on 15 proofs of His Deity as set forth in God’s Word.
Description: As we study through the book of Ephesians, we learn that the Apostle Paul is a man of great prayer. Today we look at one of these prayers — a prayer in which he petitions God to allow us to know the “unknowable.”
Description: The Bible gives us very little information as to what the Lord Jesus looked like but we do have considerable information as to His character. Today we will try to develop those insights and reveal His plan to reproduce His character in the life of each believer.
Description: Paul prays that the Ephesian believers (and us) would be strengthened with power in the inner man so that Christ may dwell in our hearts and that we would be rooted and grounded in the love of Christ.
Description: In these verses Peter gives the climax of his urgent warning and strengthening of the church against the terrible persecution, already under way, but soon to issue in the death of countless numbers of the faithful. Although Peter primarily had in mind the prophetic destruction of Jerusalem, it should never be overlooked that the event itself was a type of the ultimate judgment of the Second Coming, giving all of the apostle’s teaching here a spiritual application for all generations to come.
Description: October 31 has historically been celebrated in the church as Reformation Day yet most Christians don’t even know that Reformation Day exists — to them, October 31 is simply Halloween. We have forgotten the great men who risked their lives for the sake of the gospel and have left us a legacy of Christian freedom and who God used to recovered the gospel of grace. In today’s sermon we answer the question “Is the Reformation over?” and explore the five solas which function as the pillars of Reformation doctrine.
Notes:
The 5 Solas
Sola Scriptura (“by Scripture Alone”)
Sola Fide (“by Faith Alone”)
Sola Gratia (“by Grace Alone”)
Solus Christus or Solo Christo (“Christ Alone” or “through Christ Alone”)
Soli Deo Gloria (“Glory to God Alone”)
Faith and Works
Roman Catholic View: Faith + Works → Justification
Reformation View: Faith → Justification + Works
The Formula
Scripture Teaches:Salvation is by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone, to God’s Glory alone!
Description: Christians live to do the will of God and fulfill the obligation of holiness, love, and service in the power of the Holy Spirit — and thus bring glory to God.
