While the Gospel is good news about what Christ has done and not good news about what we have done, it does have ramifications on what we do.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and explains that these changes in our life are the fruit of regeneration — brought about by God.
…And yet in a practical way we are encouraged to pursue this fruit by pursuing Christ and asking ourselves:
“How then shall I live in light of what Christ has done for me?”
Avg Guy: I’m a pretty good person. I go to church, read my Bible, say nice things to people. I’m certainly not like HER. She’s the epitome of sex, drugs, and rockin’ roll!!
SBC Host: Careful.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, brother in Christ, David Teves fills in at the pulpit to continue his 5 Solas Series, in which, this time, we look at Grace — the GIFT (not anything of YOUR doing), but the gift of God from which we have been saved through faith… so that NO ONE may boast.
Because you see when we start comparing ourselves to our neighbor to estimate our standing in the Heavenly Court — the devil only laughs.
When you understand that the comparison has never been with your neighbor — but with the Almighty, Infinite God of the Universe — you indeed realize, that right from the beginning, you were DEAD.
Avg Guy: I’m confused. To be saved, Paul says I need faith…James says works. Who’s right??
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, brother in Christ, David Teves fills in at the pulpit to address this apparent contradiction surrounding the Biblical doctrine of justification as he continues his “5 Solas Series.”
And what we’ll find is that when it comes to reading scripture, “first glances,” as one blog author put it, “are not enough.”
Description: The Protestant Reformation — an event in church history we tend to associate with Martin Luther and other 16th Century reformers. We tend to forget, however, that Jesus Christ was the Original Reformer.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, brother in Christ, David Teves fills in at the pulpit and shares that Martin Luther and others were simply following Jesus’ example. For the Pharisees and scribes held that the traditions and laws of man were equal with Scripture — just as the Medieval Church and the Pope, 1500 years later in Luther’s day, said that Scripture AND tradition were the authority on truth.
…And, the argument continues to this day: To find truth, are other influences required to come alongside the Holy Scriptures of the Bible… or is the Bible enough?
Description: Spiritual warfare. It’s a phrase we use. But what does it really mean? …And what do we do about it?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, brother in Christ, David Teves, fills in at the pulpit and digs into these questions by looking at a familiar text, but does so in a way that many churches fail to address — by looking at the context of the letter in which it was written.
Description: The Ephesians were intolerant and haters… and for that, Jesus praised them.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and shares with us that in Christ’s letter to the church of Ephesus, He, indeed, did praise them for their intolerance to evil and hating the things He hates.
But most of us don’t consider intolerance a virtue, nor think that there would be something that Jesus actually hates… let alone, wants us to hate too. But that’s exactly what we read.
And in the midst of this, we are told to love.
Sound contradictory? Not at all.
Let’s love the things that God loves and hate the things that God hates… and in so doing, know what it is like to walk in Truth.
