For God had a message that would not only break 400 years of His silence, but would announce the birth of two sons: John and Jesus — the Baptizer and the Christ.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues in his Advent series this season, further telling us about the greatest miracle of all: the birth of Jesus.
John the Baptist played a crucial part, though, for he was sent by God to prepare the way for Jesus. And while the story of Jesus’ birth is one that we are all familiar with, what we can often miss is that every aspect, of this story we know so well, is rooted in the prophesies of God concerning the Messiah.
And Jesus fulfilled them all.
The Almighty God and Creator of the universe had veiled Himself in the flesh of a helpless infant.
This baby, had come through the most unexpected mother, in the most unexpected way, to be the long-awaited Savior of the world.
God had not spoken to His people for over 400 years. It was a long time of silence and in that time, Israel had returned from exile, rebuilt the temple, survived Alexander the Great, and now was occupied by Rome. Many were discouraged and there were a host of ways in which the people responded. It was rough.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao opens the Bible this advent season to tell us of a pivotal moment in all of time:
God was going to break His silence.
And it wouldn’t be to a great prophet or the king, but He would send an angel to an obscure, middle-aged priest named Zecharias.
…For the most important time in history was about to begin.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, brother in Christ, Josh Peglow fills in at pulpit and reminds us that Christ must remain preeminent in our lives: He must increase, but [we] must decrease.
We all struggle with the inclination to exalt ourselves, but as believers, we must be willing to see ourselves abased to see Christ glorified.
Scandia Host: Excellent choice… but the most famous road is not built by men….
Average Guy: Huh?
Scandia Host: It’s built by God.
Today on this Advent Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao shares with us that it is a highway that we must prepare for, and we are preparing for, the coming of the Lord…who travels this road with salvation and a message of comfort.

Description: Join us as we turn the back the clock to 1999 to listen to a Scandia Bible Church “Classic.” In this Classic Sermon Pastor James Allen embarks upon the study of the Gospel according to Mark. This sermon covers Mark 1:1-7.
Description: Paul continues his argument that we are to be imitators of God and that we are not only to walk in love (Ephesians 5:2) but also to walk in light.
Description: A man goes out to baptize and preach the coming of the Lord. He was asked, “Who are you?” John the Baptist proved to be that voice whose obedience in faith, and persecution for the Lord was indeed in the spirit and power of Elijah. He was the road builder laying the path for the Lord.
Description: The problem of division and disunity in the body of Christ is nothing new. It is a problem which Paul addresses in his letter to the church in Ephesus and which we will examine this morning. Paul clearly lays out the theological basis for the unity of the church by describing the work of the triune God in the lives of His people. Our last message (Ep. 4:4) describes this unity relating to the Holy Spirit. Today we will focus on unity as it relates to the Lord Jesus and God the Father.
