Description: Romans 9:30-33. These three powerful verses point out the basic problem of mankind. Israel wanted to gain righteousness by the keeping of the Law (works). Jesus was a ‘stumbling block’ to them in that gaining righteousness by faith was not acceptable to them.
Description: Jesus is calling His first followers; those with whom He would spend three years, teaching them all they needed so to know God. They would be the authority to be the foundation that Christ used to form the Church to worship Him and proclaim the new age of the Kingdom of God. Jesus transformed their lives from fisher-men to fishers-of-men, from the rough and dirty to the pure of heart with a bold purpose and mission. They would be transformed by grace and be the bearers of grace and the prime instruments by whom others would be transformed too.
Description: The problem of division and disunity in the body of Christ is nothing new. It is a problem which Paul addresses in his letter to the church in Ephesus and which we will examine this morning. Paul clearly lays out the theological basis for the unity of the church by describing the work of the triune God in the lives of His people. Our last message (Ep. 4:4) describes this unity relating to the Holy Spirit. Today we will focus on unity as it relates to the Lord Jesus and God the Father.
