Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Wisdom and Worship: Walking Through Psalms and Proverbs

Key Text: Psalm 91

Description:

Fear presses in…
uncertainty surrounds…
and the world feels anything but safe.

Where do you turn when danger feels real and protection, fragile?

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, in our Wisdom and Worship study,
Pastor Monty Simao takes us to Psalm 91 —
a psalm that does not deny suffering or threat,
but declares that God is greater.

“The one who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.”

Here we meet the Lord as our refuge and fortress —
the One who covers, keeps, and delivers His people.

Ultimately, Psalm 91 finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ —
the Son who entered a dangerous world at His first coming,
trusted the Father perfectly,
and faced suffering and death on our behalf.

In this season of Advent, we remember that the Child in the manger
is our true shelter —
and the King who will return to deliver His people completely and forever.

Because our hope is not the absence of danger…
but the presence of the Almighty.

The Reign of the Son [Psalm 2:1-12]

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 12/07/2025

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Wisdom and Worship: Walking Through Psalms and Proverbs

Key Text: Psalm 2

Description:

The nations rage…
rulers rebel…
and the world trembles under its own defiance.

What hope is there when chaos seems to sit on the throne?

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, in our Wisdom and Worship study, Pastor Monty Simao takes us to Psalm 2 — a royal psalm that pulls back the veil and reveals a very different reality than the one we see.

For though the world resists God’s reign, He is not shaken.
He laughs.
He speaks.
And He installs His King — His beloved Son — upon the throne.

In this season of Advent, we remember that the child laid in a manger is no mere infant…
but the King of kings, destined to rule the nations with justice and mercy.

Psalm 2 calls us to rightly respond:
to bow the knee,
to kiss the Son in reverent trust,
and to find refuge in the only sovereign who can save.
SBC logo 204x204
For though the nations rage…
the Son still reigns.

Who Can Dwell With God? [Psalm 15:1-5]

November 30, 2025

SBC frame line - current sermons

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 11/30/2025

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Wisdom and Worship: Walking Through Psalms and Proverbs

Key Text: Psalm 15

Description:

What kind of person is truly worthy to live in the presence of God?
No one.
Unless… he is perfectly righteous.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao takes us to the fifteenth psalm in our Wisdom and Worship study, in which David asks this very question:

“O Lord, who may abide in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your holy hill?”

The answer:

Only the one whose life is blameless…
whose heart is pure…
whose actions are flawless…
whose words are faithful…
and whose love is unwavering.

In other words — no one but Jesus.

This portrait of holiness stands not as a ladder for the proud to climb, but as a mirror for the humble to see their need.

Jesus Christ is the only Man who ever walked this earth with perfect integrity, perfect truth, and perfect love.
He alone is worthy to dwell on God’s holy hill.

But by His grace, His righteousness becomes ours—
and we too, amazingly, will one day dwell on the holy hill with the Lord God Almighty.
SBC logo 204x204
Because in the end, Psalm 15 is not about us meeting the standard…
but about the One who already has.

The Door to Mercy [Proverbs 28:13]

November 16, 2025

SBC frame line - current sermons

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 11/16/2025

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Wisdom and Worship: Walking Through Psalms and Proverbs

Key Text: Proverbs 28:13

Description:

When our sin feels too heavy to face,
we all have places we run.

We cover.
We excuse.
We delay.
We bury what we hope will simply disappear in the dark.

But concealed sin is not erased sin.
It doesn’t fade — it festers.
It hardens our hearts,
isolates our souls,
and sooner or later… it breaks us.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues our Wisdom and Worship study by taking us to Proverbs 28:13 —
where Solomon tells us that God’s mercy is found not in hiding, but in honesty…
not in perfection, but in repentance.

This verse opens a doorway to gospel hope:
for the God who sees our sin is the same God who invites us into mercy
— because Christ has already borne the full weight of our transgression, and has opened wide the arms of forgiveness.

SBC logo 204x204

The way out of hiding is not through trying harder.
It’s through Him.

Because the real question is not whether you’ll try to cover your sin…
but whether you’ll come into the light where mercy lives.

God Alone Is My Refuge [Psalm 62:1-12]

SBC frame line - current sermons

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 11/09/2025

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Wisdom and Worship: Walking Through Psalms and Proverbs

Key Text: Psalm 62

Description:

When life feels like it’s slipping out from under us…
we all run somewhere.

To people.
To accomplishments.
To distraction.
To whatever promises to hold us up when we feel like we’re falling.

But what happens when those refuges give way?

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues our Wisdom and Worship study with Psalm 62 — where David declares that every refuge in this world is fragile and false… but God alone is strong, faithful, and near.

This psalm doesn’t simply call us to believe about God —
but to rest in Him.
To entrust our weary souls to the One who never shifts, never fades, and never fails.

SBC logo 204x204

Because the question is not whether you will seek refuge.

The question is whether the refuge you will seek… will save.

When the Foundations Are Shaken [Psalm 11:1-7]

November 2, 2025

SBC frame line - current sermons

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 11/02/2025

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Wisdom and Worship: Walking Through Psalms and Proverbs

Key Text: Psalm 11

Description:

The wicked rise,
justice fails,
and chaos reigns.

What do you do when the foundations of life collapse?
David — the very shepherd-warrior who would one day be king — tells us in Psalm 11.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues our Wisdom and Worship study by taking us to the eleventh psalm — where David, in the face of real danger and deep cultural decay, does not flee… but fixes his eyes on the throne of God.

Psalm 11 reminds us that true refuge is not found in retreat, but in…

The Lord who reigns.
The Lord who sees.
The Lord who tests.
The Lord who judges in righteousness.
And the Lord who promises that His people will behold His face.

SBC logo 204x204

Christ, our righteous King, has already endured the judgment we deserve — that we might share forever in the glory for which we were made.

Because when the world falls apart… the Lord does not.

The Lord remains.

The Covenant-Keeping Wisdom of God [Proverbs 3:1-12]

October 19, 2025

SBC frame line - current sermons

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 10/19/2025

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Wisdom and Worship: Walking Through Psalms and Proverbs

Key Text: Proverbs 3:1-12

Description:

It’s not a spiritual formula — it’s a covenant call.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues our Wisdom and Worship Study by taking us to Proverbs 3 —
one of the most beloved passages in all of Scripture…
but also one of the most misunderstood.

This isn’t about following steps to get a blessed life.
It’s about trusting the covenant-keeping God who gives life.

Every command to trust Him…
every command to turn to Him…
every command to honor Him…
is not a demand for performance —
but an invitation to faith.

SBC logo 204x204

For Christ is the true Son who walked the wise path for us.
And through Him,
the blessings of the covenant are ours:
peace in the midst of chaos,
guidance in confusion,
discipline that restores,
and hope that endures to resurrection life.

God Is the Strength of My Heart [Psalm 73:1-28]

October 12, 2025

SBC frame line - current sermons

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 10/12/2025

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Wisdom and Worship: Walking Through Psalms and Proverbs

Key Text: Psalm 73

Description:

The wicked prosper…
The righteous suffer…
And God seems silent.

What do you do??

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao embarks upon a new study of Wisdom and Worship as we walk through selected Psalms and Proverbs.

In Psalm 73, Asaph walks us through a crisis of faith.
Tempted by envy and disillusioned by the ease of the ungodly,
he nearly loses his footing — until he enters the sanctuary.

SBC logo 204x204

There, his vision clears.
He sees not only the end of the wicked…
but the sufficiency of God.

In a world where circumstances often lie,
this psalm lifts our eyes higher —
to Christ, our true sanctuary and eternal portion.
