Ask a number of different Christians this question, and you’re likely to hear a number of different answers. But how many people would say that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation?
Paul would.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Romans and shows us how Paul shares that the gospel is not just simply a message… but POWER.
And when the gospel is preached, the power of God is at work… not an aimless power but a directed power.
For the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.
Pastor Simao: “Solomon is giving us six things that he sees in life that are not beautiful… Six things that everyone agrees are not beautiful… Six things that ought to challenge everyone ‘living under the sun,’ as well as cast the eye of the believer upward towards God.”
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Ecclesiastes in which we continue to address these six “non-beautiful things” — six objections Solomon raises to the sovereignty of God.
In our last sermon we looked at WICKEDNESS, found in places we ought not expect: places of justice, and even places of worship.
This time, Solomon objects to the OPPRESSION he sees all around… as well as the ENVY that shamefully and covertly drives our motivation behind our work — robbing us of the enjoyment it is intended to supply.
And it’s no wonder, with all of this… that life “under the sun” continues to look more bleak.
Avg Guy: Okay, riddle me this… If God is good and God is sovereign and rules over all things, then why do we find wickedness in surprising places? …such as places of law and worship? …Furthermore, as men, if we have to die like animals then what makes us any better??
SBC Host: Sounds like you’re ready for another sermon in Ecclesiastes.
Avg Guy:I thought you were going to say that.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Ecclesiastes and shows us that these objections were brought up by Solomon and have been raised by many men over the years…
…But the ANSWERS to these objections have only been found in ONE man: the God-Man, Jesus Christ.
WARNING: The only plan of salvation is hinged upon Jesus Christ.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and reminds us that it is Christ’s perfect righteousness — and only His righteousness — that makes us acceptable to God.
Christ offered the perfect sacrifice of His own blood and it was through His blood that the New Covenant was established. There is no salvation in any other covenant nor is there any other way to God.
Therefore, the one who repudiates the New Covenant has no sacrifice that can be offered to God to make himself acceptable. He has repudiated the only basis of receiving forgiveness, mercy, and grace and will only find wrath apart from Christ, and it is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the Living God.
Description: ARMAGEDDON — a term well-known in both Christian circles and pop culture.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and points out that when most hear the term, what they picture is the final doom’s day battle — the war to end all wars — and indeed, it will be….
But as we read about this last battle, should this be the picture we are to walk away with?
Description: The wrath of God — one of the least popular themes in the Bible.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and points out that though God’s judgement and wrath may not be subjects people flock to, the Bible mentions them very clearly… and often.
What does chapter 16 reveal about God’s wrath? …And how are we as Christians to think about it?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Genesis and shows us that this “friend” was Abraham. And one of the ways this friendship was manifest was when God took him into intimate council before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah – an act in which we not only see God’s reassurance to Abraham of His justice, but we also see a glimpse into an intimacy that foreshadowed, if even in a small way, the intimacy that Christ purchased for us.
Description: Our passage this morning shows us two things about God. The first is that God never gives up on His people, He has a tenacious grip on us… and the second is that God’s amazing plan of redemption is larger than most of us think. God will redeem all of His creation and reverse the curse of sin.
Description: The book of Jonah is a highly unusual book. There is no other book like it within both the minor and major prophets. It’s unusual in that the prophetic message is not what’s important but rather the narrative that surrounds it.
