Description: We first look at the man sent by God in the spirit and power of Elijah to testify of the coming Light. Then we gaze at the True Light and ponder the issues of rejection and acceptance.
Description: Captain Bligh’s experience on the Bounty has been refered to as the “greatest mutiny of all times.” However, we need to remember that there was a far greater mutiny that happened before time even began. In today’s sermon we will look at the Scriptural account of Satan being cast from Heaven.
Description: Although pastors today seem more and more concerned with church growth it is Christ Himself who is building His church. The primary function of pastors is to devote themselves to the ministry of prayer and the preaching of the Word.
Description: Join us as we welcome long time missionary and “Pioneer of Christian Television in Chile,” Reverend Jim Thurston of Integrity Ministries. Reverend Thurston has had ties with our small country church for about 30 years. In 1997 he and his son Steve launched an Internet Ministry at integridad.com . At its peak the website was the largest Spanish Christian site in the world with millions of hits each month. Today it continues to be a strong force to reckoned with on the Internet as millions of Spanish Speaking Chiristians Worldwide come, experience, and grow in their faith using this “High Tec” medium.
Description: It would be no wonder if an unholy God could love unholy men, but that the God whose name is Holy, could love beings so utterly sinful as we are, that is the wonder of eternity. There are many deep mysteries in the Bible, but no other so profuound as this. (taken from ‘What the Bible teaches’ by R. A. Torrey)
Description: Because this is God’s church, He has given us marching orders on how it should be structured and run. In modern times, we have allowed the idea of pragmatism to enter the church and have started adopting business practices and other unbiblical methods. Paul tells us not only the leadership structure of a church but also the purpose of the leaders and it looks very different from what we usually see today.
Description: The special emphasis of the Gospel of John is the Deity of Jesus. The reason why this Gospel was written is clearly given, “these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” John 20:30-31
Description: Matthew 16:15 presents the most pivitol and important question in all of Christendom. Get this wrong and you will be in that group that say, “Lord, we did many things in your name.” Jesus will reply, “Depart from Me for I never knew you.” Get the question correct and you will hear, ‘Well done, enter into your reward.”
Description: Our passage this morning offers a few problem areas for the exegete, not the least of which seems to be Paul’s apparent misquote of Psalm 68. But a careful study thru this amazing Psalm reveals how a victorious king shares the spoils of war with an underserving people.
Description: To be a Christian Mother is a high, holy and crucial calling. It is the highest calling any Christian woman can enter. We must never underestimate the power of God working through a mother to achieve His purposes.
Description: The Book of Esther teaches the providence of God. God saw beforehand what the people would do and even though they were out of the will of God by not going back to their homeland, they were not beyond His care. Providence involves God providing, directing, and leading people who sometimes do not want to be led. The infinite wisdom, continuing providence, and overwhelming power of God in the preservation of His people in fulfilling His covenant with them is displayed beautiful in this book. Even the most insignificant events and ordinary happenings of the world with its rulers and subjects are appointed and directed by God to affect His purposes.
Description: Have you ever wondered if a person who had lived wickedly his whole life and was now on death row could be saved if he received Jesus? Well you don’t need to wonder because the Bible not only answers that question but gives us an account of that very thing. The Penitent thief on the cross who was crucified next to Jesus, gives us one of the clearest examples of Justification by grace thru faith. This man did no good works. He was demonstrably evil, he was a criminal. He knew he was dying and he knew he deserved it. Find out how this evil man saw his sin, saw his Savior, and then was assured of salvation!
Description: “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!” These are the words that the Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians — words that, Lou Bond reminds us on this Easter Sunrise Service, were paramount and superceded all else for our brothers and sisters in Christ during the trying times of yesterday, and continue to do the same for us today… and tomorrow.
Description: Understanding the Old Testament books comes from understanding the cultural history, the metaphors and concepts the Old Testament writers were using.
Description: We come to the end of our study of 1 Peter. The Apostle leaves us with exhortations, greetings from fellow believers and a blessing of peace.
Description: God is a desinger, builder, and artist. We read about the potter who has the option or remaking a vessel that doesn’t please him or is not suited for the intended use. God too can take mankind and begin again, to redesign, and reform man into a second edition.
Description: Peter informs his Christian readers to be on the alert for the “adversary, the roaring lion.” The roaring of the lion’s jaws is the power of suffering to destroy our faith. Therefore Peter has to remind his Christian readers, “resist him, firm in your faith.”
Description: We are commissioned and designed by God to work. These daily assingments are needed to maintain both our health and often our financial needs. Those that are unable to work are to be looked after by believers who seek to follow Christ’s teaching to look after the widows, orphans, and the needy.
Description: Humility is an essential characteristic of true piety, or of the person who is right with God. God humbles men in order to bring them to Himself, and it is when men humble themselves before Him that they are accepted. To “walk humbly with your God” completes the Divine requirements.
