Sermon Notes

Date: 11/03/2024

Preacher: David Teves, deacon

Key Text: John 11:1-16

Description:

Jesus cried out in a loud voice:

“LAZARUS, COME FORTH!”

…And then, out of the tomb walked a man wrapped from head to toe in burial clothing… a man who — without a doubt — was once dead, but now — for all to see — ALIVE!

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Deacon David Teves brings us a message from an account in the Bible, that while familiar to most, is nothing short of a miracle.

SBC logo 204x204

And though the super natural aspect of this event takes center stage, what we’ll find is that the Lord has multiple lessons buried within — lessons that undeniably point us to the truth that Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, is worth following.

Sermon Notes

Date: 07/14/2024

Preacher: Josh Peglow, pastor

Series: 1 Peter

Key Text: 1 Peter 4:12-19

Description:

For doing evil… or for doing good:

Two different reasons one can suffer.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Josh Peglow continues with our study in the book of 1 Peter in which believers are urged to ensure that their suffering is a result of their Christian witness rather than wrongdoing.

Peter addresses the reality of suffering for being a Christian and encourages us not to be surprised by the fiery trials we may face.

SBC logo 204x204

Such suffering is cause for rejoicing, for it is a participation in the suffering of Christ… which means on the day in which it is revealed, we will also share in His glory.

Justification and Its Results [Romans 5:1-5]

June 11, 2023

SBC frame line - current sermons

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 06/11/2023

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Romans

Key Text: Romans 5:1-5

Description:

We have a great NEED — and, by His grace — a great SAVIOR.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Romans and points to this sobering and magnificent reality that Paul has written about.

For we know that Christ saves us “by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone,” but even so, we may not yet see some of the practical results of this justification by faith alone.

SBC logo 204x204

In our passage, the Apostle Paul masterfully connects our theology with practical living and shows us the path that God has laid out for Christian growth.

What we’ll find is that through correct doctrine, we have the proper lens in which to view the world, especially in the face of life’s difficulties.

Rejoicing while suffering??

…How is that even possible?!

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Josh Peglow continues with our study in the book of 1 Peter and shows us how for the recipients of this letter, persecution and suffering was a daily experience.

SBC logo 204x204

And yet, Peter commended them to rejoice through it all.

For it is through trails that we prove a genuine and active faith that culminates in final salvation.

Praying Through Trials [Psalm 27:1-14]

August 28, 2022

SBC frame line - current sermons

Sermon Notes

Date: 08/28/2022

Preacher: Josh Peglow, pastor

Key Text: Psalm 27

Description:

Though a host encamp against me,
My heart will not fear;
Though war arise against me… I shall be confident.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Josh Peglow takes the pulpit to share a Psalm, a prayer, a very raw and vulnerable cry to God from King David. And while this psalm demonstrates fearless trust, courageous confidence, and unwavering faith… it also shows us something else: David is scared.

“Please don’t leave me Lord.”

It’s hard to imagine someone of his stature feeling this way… and yet, he does. And by God’s grace it is recorded for us as an example to pattern and learn from — an encouraging imperative.

For as David concludes:

I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord,
In the land of the living.

SBC logo 204x204

Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.

Christianity will not make you immune. The only difference for a Christian is that they can rest in absolute confidence that their loving God is with them. This truth is developed beautifully in the first verses in the Book of James.
