Sermon Notes
Date: 08/28/2022
Preacher: Josh Peglow, pastor
Key Text: Psalm 27
Description:
Though a host encamp against me,
My heart will not fear;
Though war arise against me… I shall be confident.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Josh Peglow takes the pulpit to share a Psalm, a prayer, a very raw and vulnerable cry to God from King David. And while this psalm demonstrates fearless trust, courageous confidence, and unwavering faith… it also shows us something else: David is scared.
“Please don’t leave me Lord.”
It’s hard to imagine someone of his stature feeling this way… and yet, he does. And by God’s grace it is recorded for us as an example to pattern and learn from — an encouraging imperative.
For as David concludes:
I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord,
In the land of the living.

Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.

We know what it is, for we fight against it everyday.
But if God, himself, does not tempt us, why in the world should we pray that He lead us not into temptation?

Sermon Notes
Date: 07/10/2016
Preacher: Keith Barker, elder
Key Text: James 1:1-4
Description: If your life is a challenge, be encouraged that you are a normal human being. The Bible tells us that there will be ongoing trials, testing and temptations. Christianity will not make you immune. The only difference for a Christian is that they can rest in absolute confidence that their loving God is with them. This truth is developed beautifully in the first verses in the Book of James.

Preacher: Monty Simao, elder
Series: Job
Key Text: Job 2:11–3:26
Description: We are introduced in the text to Job’s three friends. They meant well but they bring to mind the cliché, “with friends like these who needs enemies?” Several months have transpired since Job’s tribulation started, and he is now at that point where death looks sweet and Job curses the day of his birth — always the unanswerable question of…”Why?”

Key Text: Ephesians 3:1
Description: Paul explains his circumstances to the Ephesian believers. He knew that some were discouraged by his imprisonment and persecution. Many of them probably wondered why God allowed those things to happen. But Paul never wondered, Paul knew. He knew that if he was in prison it was only because God wanted him in prison and he knew that God would use whatever circumstances to fulfil His kingdom purpose.
