Description: And then John looks up and sees an image that makes Colossus of Rhodes look small and the gods of the Roman pantheon look… well, weak.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues our study in the book of Revelation in which witness right along with John… a mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud, rainbow on his head, and face shining like the sun with feet like pillars of fire.

And yet, as breathtaking as this image is… this amazing being is just simply one of God’s servants do His bidding.

But through this vision, we capture a glimpse of God’s amazing sovereignty over a seemingly chaotic world which will one day come to an end — when the mysteries of the Lord Almighty will be revealed in the renewed world that awaits.

Locust Demons from the Bottomless Pit [Revelation 9:1-12]

The skies over the Euphrates swarm with airborne military weaponry: helicopters, jets, and drones crowd the air. And like metal locusts equipped with rapid fire guns in their mouths and bombs in their tails, they have orders to incessantly attack and destroy.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation in which we turn our attention to chapter 9 — a chapter that has has certainly captured the imagination of Bible interpreters from around the world — with interpretations as varied as an invasion of Apache helicopters to an army of genetically modified locusts who prey on flesh instead of vegetation.

But, are these interpretations in line with what John is trying to communicate? … or have we moved away from the purpose of the book?

The Trumpets of Judgement [Revelation 8:7-13]

And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared…to sound them.
The first [angel] sounded, and there came hail and fire….
The second…and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea….
The third…a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch….
[And with] the fourth…the sun…the moon and…the stars were struck, so that a third of them…darkened….

And what we’ll find is that like the first four Seal Judgments, the first four Trumpet Judgments come as a set — a set that, astute readers will recognize, comes out of Israel’s great period of redemptive history…the Exodus.
