The Living Framework of the Church (The Office of Deacon) [Acts 6:1–7; 1 Timothy 3:8–13]

August 10, 2026

Sermon Notes

Date: 08/09/2026

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Key Text: Acts 6:1–7; 1 Timothy 3:8–13

Description:

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast,
Pastor Monty Simao takes a break from our study in the book of Matthew
as we ordain to the office of deacon,
Arnold Teves and Derek Orn.

Born out of a practical crisis,
the diaconate addressed something far greater —
a threat to the unity of Christ’s church
and to the ministry of the Word.

And in that, we see something beautiful
about Christ’s care for His Bride:

physical needs matter,
unity must be guarded,
and those called to preach and pray
must be freed to do so faithfully.

Because deacons are more than men
who simply get things done.

They’re men who bear burdens,
protect peace,
and by serving the body,
help keep the Word
at the center of the church.

Sermon Notes

Date: 05/10/2026

Preacher: Josh Peglow, pastor

Series: Colossians

Key Text: Colossians 4:10-14

Description:

Aristarchus. Mark. Justus. Epaphras. Luke. Demas.

Names we might pass over.
Greetings we might rush through.

But tucked inside these final lines is a picture of the church Christ is building.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Josh Peglow nears the conclusion of our study in the book of Colossians—

as the apostle Paul sends greetings from fellow workers, servants, and sufferers in the work of the gospel.

Different names. Different stories. Different histories.

Some serving quietly behind the scenes.
Some bearing the marks of failure and restoration.
Some striving in prayer for the people of God.

All reminding us that Christian fellowship is not shallow.

It is formed in humility,
strengthened through reconciliation,
sustained by faithful ministry,
and held together in Christ alone.

Because the church is not merely a gathering of similar people.

It is the body of Christ.
