The nations rage… rulers rebel… and the world trembles under its own defiance.
What hope is there when chaos seems to sit on the throne?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, in our Wisdom and Worship study, Pastor Monty Simao takes us to Psalm 2 — a royal psalm that pulls back the veil and reveals a very different reality than the one we see.
For though the world resists God’s reign, He is not shaken.
He laughs.
He speaks.
And He installs His King — His beloved Son — upon the throne.
In this season of Advent, we remember that the child laid in a manger is no mere infant…
but the King of kings, destined to rule the nations with justice and mercy.
Psalm 2 calls us to rightly respond:
to bow the knee,
to kiss the Son in reverent trust,
and to find refuge in the only sovereign who can save. For though the nations rage… the Son still reigns.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues our study in the book of Zechariah,
where we’re confronted with rejection—
and a sobering question:
What happens when people reject the Shepherd God has sent?
Zechariah delivers a piercing answer.
Not just for ancient Israel,
but for us.
It lays bare the devastating cost of turning from God’s leadership,
of choosing false comfort over truth,
and despising the very Savior sent to save us.
Because the question isn’t just: “What did THEY do?”
It’s:
What will YOU do? Who are you following? Who… is your shepherd?
Lilies. Life. Light.
Words we often associate with Easter.
But what if the story doesn’t start there?
What if resurrection begins in the dark—
with rebellion, a storm,
and a prophet sinking into the sea?
Today, on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Resurrection Sunday, Pastor Monty Simao takes us to the book of Jonah — where a man runs from God, faces judgment… and is swallowed by mercy.
It’s a gritty, unexpected picture of how God pursues sinners —
not to destroy,
but to save.
Jesus said, “No sign will be given except the sign of Jonah,” pointing to His own death and resurrection.
This morning, we trace Jonah’s descent and Christ’s triumph— and we’re reminded: Salvation belongs to the Lord.
Whether you’re lost in sin or weary in faith, this is the story of a God who appoints storms, commands salvation, and raises the dead.
What if everything you’ve ever done, everything you’ve ever thought, or everything you’ve ever intended — every hidden sin — was written down and made visible?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Zechariah in which we’re given a vivid and unsettling vision of this very thing: a flying scroll exposing sin and a woman in a basket — confined, contained, and carried away.
It’s a picture of God’s holy standard and His active judgment. And yet, it also serves as a backdrop making the gospel shine all the brighter.
For on this Palm Sunday, we should see that Christ didn’t just come to be praised — He came to purify.
And He came to carry the curse so we wouldn’t have to.
Have you ever felt the weight of guilt or the sting of accusation?
Have you ever wondered if you could truly be accepted before a holy God?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Zechariah where we are taken into a divine courtroom.
Joshua the High Priest, stained with sin, stands accused — filthy and unworthy.
Satan is ready to condemn: “Look at him covered in sin! He’s mine!
But then, something incredible happens… God, Himself, intervenes — with all-knowing knowledge of the Lamb slain for sinners — rebukes the accuser: NO SATAN! Legally, he’s MINE.
…And removes Joshua’s filthy garments, and clothes him in righteousness.
Avg Guy:Well, so far in Romans we’re learning — whether Jew or Gentile — God is impartial and judges us on the law in light of the revelation we’ve received.
SBC Host: That’s right.
Avg Guy:So then, is there any advantage to being numbered among the Jewish nation? Is the Jew still honored in some way?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Romans in which he reveals Paul’s response to this question… a response which just might surprise you.
Avg Guy: How can that be fair?! I mean, don’t you think the Jews had an inside edge with Moses and all those prophets directing them? What advantage did the Gentiles have??
SBC Host: That’s a fair question.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Romans in which find an answer to this question.
For in our passage we find the standard that God will hold man accountable to.
…And how God will account for those who have been given less.
The false gospel of moralism. It’s a perennial problem within the church.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Romans and shows us this problem has less to do with the changing generations and more to do with the sin that plagues the human heart.
In our passage Paul cuts through the weeds of moralism to expose the coming judgment of God.
For God’s judgment brings reward to the believer… but ought to strike terror in those who are trusting in their own goodness.
WARNING: The only plan of salvation is hinged upon Jesus Christ.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and reminds us that it is Christ’s perfect righteousness — and only His righteousness — that makes us acceptable to God.
Christ offered the perfect sacrifice of His own blood and it was through His blood that the New Covenant was established. There is no salvation in any other covenant nor is there any other way to God.
Therefore, the one who repudiates the New Covenant has no sacrifice that can be offered to God to make himself acceptable. He has repudiated the only basis of receiving forgiveness, mercy, and grace and will only find wrath apart from Christ, and it is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the Living God.
Description: It’s a subject that most would rather ignore, but all agree is certain: DEATH. And inextricably linked to this inevitability is an even more avoided topic: JUDGEMENT.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and reminds us how the Scriptures necessarily tie death and judgment together. After all, death comes as the consequence of sin.
But we need to understand, death is NOT the end… rather, it’s the BEGINNING of eternity — an eternity where we either enter into the fullness of joy in the presence of our Heavenly Father, or an eternity filled with condemnation when we are cast into the lake of fire.
Because you see, which eternity becomes your destiny, hinges on that very topic most of us would rather not ponder: JUDGEMENT.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and explains that in order for believers to mature, they need to have a firm foundation on the elementary truths of the faith.
Like the sure foundation of a building, the foundations of Christian truth serve to support growth in holiness and the knowledge of God.
Description: God’s word reflects God’s nature. And because He is living and active, His word must also be.
…It is purposeful.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and shows that not only does God’s word reveal God to us, but it reveals us… the innermost secrets of our hearts — exposed.
Ultimately, for each one of us, God’s word will either be a word of PROMISE or a word of JUDGEMENT.

Description: It’s a feast! But there’s more than one…
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and explains that at the end of chapter 19, we are provided with an image of two different feasts.
The first is a beautiful banquet of the Marriage supper of the Lamb — the second, a grotesque gorge, that is even difficult to read about.
God’s judgment and eternal damnation is a difficult topic, but it’s one that Christ and His apostles spoke often of, and therefore, requires our attention.
Description: As we near the end of the Bible, the fate of two women hang in the balance.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation in which we are introduced to two women who will be be judged very differently: the harlot and the bride.
The harlot — the great prostitute and idolatress of Babylon — has been corrupting and poisoning the earth with her adultery, and now must face the fierce outpouring of the wrath of the Lamb.
While the the Bride of Christ has been redeemed and is permitted to dress in fine, dazzling white and clean linen — signifying the righteous and moral acts of the saints — as she readies herself for her groom… who is also the Lamb.
For one will stand as recipient of His wrath, the other, His love.
Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit…
And the kings of the earth, who committed acts of immorality and lived sensuously with her, will weep and lament over her when they see the smoke of her burning, standing at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying, “Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in one hour your judgment has come.”
It’s the funeral of Babylon the Great…the funeral of the Harlot.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation in which we see in chapter 18 the world watching from a distance the funeral service of Babylon, lamenting that their cash cow has met her demise.
“Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea became rich by her wealth, for in one hour she has been laid waste!”
But the saints are also watching, and they are rejoicing that God has judged the city that has made itself drunk on the blood of the martyrs.
Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, because God has pronounced judgment for you against her.
A simple Google search will reveal that many are absolutely obsessed with it.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and reminds us that Christians need not wonder about the end, for God tells us in His Word — not so we might fear, but so we might increase our faith and trust in Him.
Description: ARMAGEDDON — a term well-known in both Christian circles and pop culture.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and points out that when most hear the term, what they picture is the final doom’s day battle — the war to end all wars — and indeed, it will be….
But as we read about this last battle, should this be the picture we are to walk away with?
Description: The wrath of God — one of the least popular themes in the Bible.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and points out that though God’s judgement and wrath may not be subjects people flock to, the Bible mentions them very clearly… and often.
What does chapter 16 reveal about God’s wrath? …And how are we as Christians to think about it?
Description: Have you ever had a dream in which you were being pursued? Have you ever awoke in a cold sweat because you were almost caught?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation in which he teaches that the feeling of being pursued is one the ancient Israelites knew well, as God brought about a great deliverance in the Exodus.
But as great a picture as the Exodus is in showing us God’s deliverance, the Bible speaks of an even greater “Exodus” with a freedom that comes from One who is greater than Moses.
Description: Fire and brimstone preaching… a style that has certainly has fallen out of contemporary fashion. And yet, the Bible is chock-full of explicit and implicit warning against the coming wrath of God.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and points out that whether the message is read from the Bible, or preached from the pulpit, countless people hear it and delay bowing the knee before God in repentance.
The day is coming, however, when it will be too late to repent… and both the believer and the non-believer will be harvested: one to eternal reward — the other, eternal damnation.
