Key Text: Hebrews 13:15-19

Description:

Avg Guy: Are sacrifices that we see in the Bible still required?

SBC Host: What do you mean?

Avg Guy: Well, because sacrifices were such a part of Old Testament worship, are there any sacrifices or offerings pleasing to God in the New Covenant?

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and addresses this very question.

Avg Guy: After all, even if the sacrifice of atonement in Christ is complete and perfect, there were other sacrifices that were part of the Old Testament economy.

SBC Host: That’s corr—

SBC logo 204x204

Avg Guy: Do any of these carry over??

SBC Host: Wel—

Avg Guy: And they are still required in the life of the Christian?

SBC Host: You’d better listen up.

GOD: “I REMEMBER YOUR SINS NO MORE.”

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and explains that because of this, there will never be a need for another sin atoning sacrifice.

The Blood of Jesus [Hebrews 9:11-15]

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 08/01/2021

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Hebrews

Key Text: Hebrews 9:11-15

Description:

Blood.

Why does the Bible speak so often about it?

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews in which he addresses the question about the Bible’s focus on blood…

Avg Guy: Wait a minute! Blood, that’s an Old Covenant thing. I mean with all the goat sacrifices and such.

SBC Host: I understand. But that doesn’t mean the NEW Covenant is not without blood — Christ’s.

SBC logo 204x204

Avg Guy: Good point.

SBC Host: The question is not about whether there is blood, but rather, when it comes to the blood that God requires for us to be right in His eyes, how does the blood sacrifice of animals pale in comparison to the blood sacrifice of Jesus?

The Earthly Sanctuary and its Worship [Hebrews 9:1-10]

July 25, 2021

SBC frame line - current sermons

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 07/25/2021

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Hebrews

Key Text: Hebrews 9:1-10

Description:

Avg Guy: If the new covenant is so much better, why is the old covenant still so attractive?

I mean, why would the book of Hebrews even need to be written, convincing people not to go back to the shadows of the Old Covenant?

SBC logo 204x204

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and shares with us that the answer lies in the Old Covenant’s barrier to God’s presence.

…With the greatest of barriers not being the obvious veil in the temple or tabernacle, but rather man’s guilt and shame.

Out with the Old and in with the New [Hebrews 8:7-13]

July 18, 2021

SBC frame line - current sermons

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 07/18/2021

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Hebrews

Key Text: Hebrews 8:7-13

Description:

Avg Guy: There’s a NEW Covenant??

What was wrong with the Old?

I wonder if it’s just an update — and is now better — or if it’s WAY different.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and helps us answer these questions.

SBC logo 204x204

Unlike the idea of “new” in our modern age… this time new DOES mean *better*, not simply *different*.

In fact, the New Covenant is so much better, that upon its establishment, the Old became utterly obsolete.

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Hebrews

Key Text: Hebrews 7:20-25

Description:

SBC Host: Assurance of salvation — all Christians struggle with it…

Avg Guy: You’re telling me.

SBC Host: And yet, we understand that Jesus is able to save.

Avg Guy: Exactly!

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews to show us that God understands and has given us a guarantee, or a surety, to secure our future — and it is Jesus Christ.

SBC logo 204x204

Jesus, Himself, is the assurance of our eternal salvation.

We may try to obtain assurance through other means… but such as it is with the Gospel of Grace: all of God’s blessings, including assurance, come to us in Christ.

Monty Simao 2014Sermon Notes

Date: 06/13/2021

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Hebrews

Key Text: Hebrews 7:11-19

Description:

SBC Host: “Weak and useless”… God’s description of the Levitical Priesthood.

The Levitical Priesthood had problems.

Avg Guy: Wait a minute! What was wrong?? Why couldn’t something be done to fix it?

SBC Host: There was. And He did.

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews in which we see why a priesthood, that had once been ordained by God, was now needing to be replaced.

SBC logo 204x204

But then it all makes sense when viewed against the backdrop of the Gospel, where we see on display man’s great need and the perfect work of Christ.

Avg Guy: Ohhh.
