Sermon Notes
Date: 03/31/2024, Easter Sunday
Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor
Key Text: 2 Samuel 9
Description:
What does a crippled man from Lo-debar have to do with Easter??
…More than we might initially think.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Resurrection Sunday 2024, Pastor Monty Simao opens the book of 2 Samuel to uncover the profound depths of Easter’s message tucked within an ancient story: the story of Mephibosheth.

For it is a vivid picture of our own condition before God: broken, in exile, and desperately in need of grace.
And yet, it is also a story of unexpected summons, of grace that seeks us out, and of a royal table where there is always a place reserved for us — not because of who we are…
…but because of Whose we are.

Sermon Notes
Date: 03/31/2024, Easter Sunday
Preacher: David Teves, deacon
Key Text: John 11:25-27
Description:
I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.
Do you believe this?
… the words of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to Martha.
And welcome to our 2024 Easter Sunrise Service for Scandia Bible Church — held in its traditional location, at the lovely waterside home of Elder Keith Barker.
This morning Deacon David Teves shares a message regarding a different resurrection — the one in which Jesus raised His friend, Lazarus, from the dead.
But in doing so He explained to Martha that *He* was the resurrection… and Martha not only believed Him but said as much.

What about you?
Do YOU believe this?
That’s the real question to ponder this morning.
…For your answer means everything.

Sermon Notes
Date: 03/23/2024, Palm Sunday
Preacher: David Teves, deacon
Key Text: John 12:12-19
Description:
They hailed Him, King!
…the king who had come to save them —the Jewish people— from the oppression of the Romans.
But, instead (fulfilling Old Testament prophecy), Jesus —just five days before what would be Good Friday— humbly entered Jerusalem, not on a white steed, but a gray donkey… symbolizing peace, not war.

Today on this Palm Sunday, Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Deacon David Teves examines a passage that most just see as a historical account of the path Jesus took to the cross. But is it more than that?
Does this passage have relevancy for US today?
…And if so, how can we apply it to our lives?

It’s closer than you think.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Romans in which we are confronted with a startling truth:
When it comes to our spiritual needs, our world has conditioned us to search for complex solutions; when, in fact, the righteousness that leads to salvation is closer than we think.

For it’s not about lofty achievements or rigorous adherence to law: it’s about faith, belief, and confession — elements deeply woven into the fabric of our being.

Description:
It’s not about what WE CAN DO…
but about WHAT’S BEEN DONE.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Romans and invites us into a radical reimagining of what it means to be Right with God.
Because we live in a world where we often find ourselves measuring our worth by our works.

But… it’s not about what we can DO, but about what has been DONE FOR US, through Jesus Christ.
So, how does this shift change the way we live, believe, and pursue God’s heart??
The answer?… rests in the beautiful gospel simplicity of finding righteousness through belief in Christ Alone.

VINDICATED and VICTORIOUS.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Josh Peglow continues with our study in the book of 1 Peter and shows us how Christ’s suffering unites us with His victory.

Notes:
Putting the differing theological theories to the test:
- Where did Jesus go?
- When did Jesus go?
- What did He do there?
- Who was His audience?
- How well does this fit with Peter’s overall message of Christ’s suffering, victory, and vindication in chapter3, verses 18-22?

SBC Host: God extends mercy to some but hardens the hearts of others.
Avg Guy: That doesn’t seem fair!
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Romans in which the Apostle Paul confronts us with a question of God’s justice… His righteousness.
It’s a passage of mystery, of divine choice and the human heart, that has puzzled and inspired believers for centuries… for it pushes us to the edge of where our understanding meets God’s unsearchable judgements and unfathomable ways.

And though we may not completely understand, there’s no denying the magnitude of His sovereignty and the depth of His mercy.
For when we acknowledge God’s absolute freedom — though it may challenge — we begin to find comfort as we see our place in His redemptive plan.

How does God choose?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues our study in the book of Romans in which the Apostle Paul confronts us with the profound mysteries of divine sovereignty through the narratives of two prominent biblical figures — two brothers — whose stories transcend time and culture: Jacob and Esau.

And it is through these siblings that questions are raised that have echoed throughout the corridors of Christian history: How DOES God choose?
And what does it mean to be elected by Him?
And, ultimately, where do we find ourselves in this grand narrative of grace and mercy?

1 Peter 15b, 17
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Josh Peglow continues with our study in the book of 1 Peter in which we learn that it is when we, the believer, face the strongest opposition, we are most often used of God.

For when we endure suffering — while maintaining good works and sharing Christ — we are able to demonstrate, for all to see, the HOPE we have within.

Description:
Advent — a time of reflection and anticipation.
Today, Christmas Eve morning, on the Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao delves into the story that changed the course of humanity: God’s perfect creation and the entrance of sin into all that He had made.
This story is not just about the first sin, though, it’s a mirror reflecting our own struggles, hopes, and the profound need for redemption.

Because when all that Adam and Eve ought to have expected was God’s wrath, in the midst of Almighty’s curse was (and is) a promise of a Savior to come.
So even as sin entered the world, hope also entered with the promise of Jesus the Savior who would crush the head of the serpent once and for all.
