Avg Guy Sportscaster: [sport theme music] Welcome everybody to the Big Game! We’re in the Hall of Faith where the Old Covenant Saints will face the New Covenant Saints… Who will win?… It’s anybody’s call… should be pretty close.
SBC Host: Hold on! [sport music stops]
Avg Guy Sportscaster:Oh, do you want to be my color commentator?
SBC Host: No! This isn’t a game!!
Avg Guy Sportscaster:Are you kidding me?? This is the game of games! It’s like the “Bible Pro Bowl!”
SBC Host: What?? [Pause. Has an idea.] Wait. Hold on a second…. Keep going and take my opening lines. I need to look up something.
Avg Guy Sportscaster: [sport music resumes] All right!… Today on the Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Game Official and Pastor, Monty Simao, is on the field to continue our study in the book of Hebrews and to oversee these final verses in the Hall of Faith. And like I said, it doesn’t appear that one side has an advantage over the other since both sides of believers — both Old Testament and New Testament — must still look to God in faith.
SBC Host: Okay I’ve got it! Stop the music. [sport music stops] …Ok. While I’m not technically betting here, I’m willing to give up my place in line for common meal and give the advantage to the New Covenant Saints.
Avg Guy Sportscast:You seem pretty confident there. Do you have some inside information?
SBC Host: Let’s just say that got a tip from the author of Hebrews. And while the Old Covenant Saints are to be revered, [sport music fades back in] the New Covenant Saints have got “something better.”
It not only guides the way in which we live and walk in this life, but it also desires and searches for a home that this fallen world cannot provide — the heart of faith.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Hebrews and explains that in God, we as Christians, are satisfied.
…Which also means that we are dissatisfied with anything less.
Therefore, our hearts will only rest when we find the home that God has prepared for us, where we will dwell in His presence forever.
Description: Many look at the book of Revelation like a puzzle or an encrypted message. And, provided they have the correct decoder ring, they can unlock the vast spiritual truth found there.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao nears the end of our study in the book of Revelation and teaches that this book is not about “unlocking” anything, but rather is designed to unveil what was once hidden.
This unveiling is actually what the word Apocalypse or Revelation means, and the final chapter makes this purpose clear.
For generations of Christians, these are words that have brought comfort, but for some, confusion.
After all, it has been over 2000 years…what does soon mean?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao nears the end of our study in the book of Revelation and shares that these words, when correctly understood, are neither discouraging nor confusing, but rather provide the church with an accurate view of the tension that exists between the expectation of Christ’s return and knowing He may yet tarry.
Description: The end of the curse, the healing of the nations, the restoration of the tree of life, the River of life, the presence of God, and light and life everlasting…and we find it all in the beginning of the last chapter of the Bible.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao reaches the final chapter in our study of the book of Revelation which brings to fruition of the themes of redemption that we saw back in Genesis…
…and the end is the glory of God and our complete enjoyment of Him.
Have you ever tried to describe something, but had no words for what it was…only for what it wasn’t?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and explains that describing the indescribable is what theologians are up against when attempting to describe God.
And what we’ll find is that this is also the case with the church in Heaven, as seen in the symbol of the New Jerusalem.
Description: The size, brilliance, and purity of the New Jerusalem is beyond our imaginations. Any description we can possibly think of falls short.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and explains that with this unfathomable vision of the Holy City that John give us, we are brought face to face with the reality of the size, brilliance, and purity of the church…
…God’s great work in redeeming a people to Himself, where all glory is given to Him and His glory is reflected throughout.
“And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, having the glory of God.”
— Rev 21:10-11a
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with the final portions of our study in the book of Revelation in which we read some of the most beautiful and striking imagery from John’s vision of the New Jerusalem, adorned as a bride, as a symbol of God’s people.
Description: Our first glimpse of heaven…and we see it in Revelation 21.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation and explains that this first glimpse is a picture of a city that John sees coming down from heaven.
As he describes what he sees — rich with metaphor and symbolism — we realize that this city is not just any typical city with which we are all accustomed, but rather, a heavenly city adorned as a bride…descending to earth.
Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying,“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.”
—Revelation 11:15
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation where we see the Trumpet Judgments come to an end in much the same way as the Seal Judgments — with images representing the final Day of Judgment and the consummation of Christ’s kingdom.
For the goal is that Heaven and Earth are one and that God’s temple fills the earth… and the final destruction of all His enemies is seen.
Description: We’ve already been down the road of how the 144,000 Sealed Believers in chapter seven are a topic of controversy and confusion.
We’ve tackled the topic of who they are, and what the seal on the forehead means.
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Revelation (and chapter 7) to help us make sense of how this chapter fits in with everything else in the book we’ve learned so far. For we now know the numbered people are seen as an innumerable multitude, and the fullness of God’s promises are seen to His glory.
Description: We’ve read the seven letters to the churches of Asia Minor… which when taken in totality are a letter to the church as a whole, as well.
…So if that’s the case, how do you get the eyes of the church off of their circumstances as they look to the Lord for strength in all their trials?
Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues are study in the book of Revelation and helps us answer that question by pointing us to God in His splendor and sovereignty.
You see, the bigger God is to us, the smaller are the assaults of this present evil age… not because they are insignificant, but rather because they are put into perspective next to the God of the universe who is worthy of all praise.
Description: Our Redeemer lives. He was victorious over death the grave could not hold Him. Paul presents in 1 Corinthians 15 the facts concerning the resurrection of Christ to those at the church at Cornith.
Description: The Apostle Paul gives us one of the most THRILLING DESCRIPTIONS in all the Bible concerning the expected return of Jesus Christ for His children, His Bride, and His Church.
