Well you don’t need to wonder because the Bible not only answers that question but gives us an account of that very thing. The Penitent thief on the cross who was crucified next to Jesus, gives us one of the clearest examples of Justification by grace thru faith.  This man did no good works. He was demonstrably evil, he was a criminal. He knew he was dying and he knew he deserved it.  Find out how this evil man saw his sin, saw his Savior, and then was assured of salvation!

Our last message (Ep. 4:4) describes this unity relating to the Holy Spirit. Today we will focus on unity as it relates to the Lord Jesus and God the Father.

Unity in the Spirit [Ephesians 4:4]

January 23, 2011

Sermon Notes

Date: 01/23/2011

Preacher: Monty Simao, elder

Series: Ephesians

Key Text: Ephesians 4:4

Description: The problem of division and disunity in the body of Christ is nothing new. It is a problem which Paul addresses in his letter to the church in Ephesus and which we will examine in this message. Paul clearly lays out the theological basis for the unity of the church by describing the work of the triune God in the lives of His people. Difficulty arises because those whom God has called to be His are made up of people from so many backgrounds that division seems likely. For this reason, Paul instructs his readers to better understand the unity they have in Christ and how that unity is to be lived out in our daily experience.

Preacher: Frank Acevedo, elder

Series: 1 Peter

Key Text: 1 Peter 4:12-14

Description: In these verses Peter gives the climax of his urgent warning and strengthening of the church against the terrible persecution, already under way, but soon to issue in the death of countless numbers of the faithful. Preacher: Frank Acevedo, elder

Series: 1 Peter

Key Text: 1 Peter 3:7

Description: “Many today love traditional wedding ceremonies with biblical language who would be repulsed if they comprehended the meaning. A pledge to take a woman for his wife commits a man to sharing life in its entirety. Man and wife are heirs together of God’s gracious gift of one life. It demands of him selfless thoughtfulness of her. The New Testament repeatedly urges men to love their wives and be considerate towards them.” — Walter Chantry, THE SHADOW OF THE CROSS
