Description: When do you pray? For most of us, we pray only when we are in trouble and desperate. Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Genesis and explains that we do this because our “default setting” is self-reliance instead of trusting God. In today’s passage we see a proper perspective of prayer:… a perspective that shows us that we shouldn’t pray when we are desperate – rather we should realize just how desperate we always are.
Description: Chapter 24: it’s the longest chapter in the book of Genesis. But instead of it being a great theological treatise, what we find is a love story. Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast, Pastor Monty Simao continues with our study in the book of Genesis and shows us that unlike the love stories we may be accustomed to, this one doesn’t start with “boy meets girl;” rather, this love story begins with faithful Abraham commanding his servant Eliezer to put his hand under his thigh… vowing before the Lord.
Description: The duties that a husband has toward his wife is not only a picture of atonement as Paul instructs husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her…but also a picture of sanctification as Paul provides the goal of the husband’s sacrifice and that is to sanctify his wife that he might present her to the Lord.
Description: What does it mean to love your wife as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her? This sermon looks at the husband’s responsibilities to the wife in light of the offices of Christ and His ministry to His bride, the church.
Description: Marriage is defined by God as God is its author. God has given husbands and wives different but complementary roles and responsibilities in marriage. Today we live in a culture that not only has usurped God’s authority in redefining marriage, but has also pushed for role androgyny in every area of life. Now, more than ever, the clarity of Scripture is needed to bring the light of truth to these areas.

Description: With only 600 men of Benjamin who survive the Battle at Gibeah, Israel is in danger of losing one of her tribes…permanently. Taking matters into their own hands, the Israelites travel down a dark road trying to fix a problem by human means and sin while claiming to be righteous.
Description: In today’s message, we that a look at the second illustration that Paul provides on how a husband is to love his wife. That is, he is to love his wife as himself. This is bound up in a special unity that exists between husband and wife that doesn’t exist in any other relationship on earth. This unity is meant to reflect the unity that we have as the bride of Christ with our Lord and Bridegroom. What an amazing mystery.
Description: God has called Christian husbands to love our wives not only with a sacrificial love but with also a purifying love. That means that we need to love our wives with her sanctification in view.
Description: Paul tells husbands that they are to love their wives as Christ loved the church, this is not only a “high bar” this is an impossibility. Paul doesn’t tell husbands this to dismay them but rather to point out the Christo-centric aspect of marriage and provide us a view of marriage that is based on the gospel and based specifically in the way that Christ related or ministered to His bride, the church.
Description: All Christians are under the authority of someone else. Husbands are accountable to the Lord and to the elders in the church. Children are under the authority of parents and slaves under the authority of masters. In our passage this morning Paul speaks to husbands and commands them to love their wives as Christ loved the church.
