The Clash of Kingdoms: Loving Your Enemies [Matthew 5:43-48]

August 2, 2026

Sermon Notes

Date: 08/02/2026

Preacher: Monty Simao, pastor

Series: Matthew

Key Text: Matthew 5:43-48

Description:

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast,
Pastor Monty Simao continues our study
in the Gospel of Matthew —

as Jesus brings His exposition of the Law
to its staggering climax.

The world loves those
who love in return.

But kingdom citizens are called
to something wholly different:

to reflect their Father,
who sends sun and rain
upon the righteous
and the unrighteous alike.

And when Jesus commands,
“Be perfect,”

He strips away every claim
to self-righteousness
and drives us to the Savior —

who loved us
while we were His enemies,

and now, by His Spirit,
empowers us to love ours.

God is Faithful [1 Kings 19:1-21]

June 14, 2026

Sermon Notes

Date: 06/14/2026

Preacher: Derek Orn, chapalin

Key Text: 1 Kings 19

Description:

Today on Scandia Bible Church Podcast,
Derek Orn brings us to the life of Elijah —

a prophet who had seen the power of God,
and yet found himself weary,
afraid,
and ready to be done.

In that place, God did not meet him
according to what Elijah deserved,
but according to who God is.

Faithful in mercy.
Faithful in His Word.
Faithful to call His servant forward.

But the question
does not stay with Elijah:

Are you coming before the Lord
to manage a transaction?

…Or to hear from the God
whose faithfulness
is our only hope?

Sunrise Service 2026: Be a Buffalo [Psalm 74:1-23]

April 5, 2026

Sermon Notes

Date: 04/05/2026, Easter Sunday, Sunrise

Preacher: Derek Orn, chapalin

Key Text: Psalm 74

Description:

When the storms of life hit…
be a buffalo.

And welcome to the Scandia Bible Church Sunrise Service for 2026.

This morning, Derek Orn — Scandia attender, fellow brother in Christ, and chaplain at a nearby Christian school — brings us a message shaped around a powerful idea.

When storms come, most run from them.

But buffalo do something different.

They turn…
and charge straight into them.

He reminds us that as Christians,
storms are not something to escape…

they are something God uses
to build endurance,
to shape character,
and to lead us to hope.

Because the story of Easter itself…
turns on a moment.

From death…
to life.
